It's great to know that Mary Kelly is still exhibiting, and thanks for addressing this important issue of maternal work and the subject of motherhood in art.

Best of luck with combining your two (or more?) jobs, namely making a new person and writing about art.

Having graduated from a commercial arts program at a much-lauded forward-thinking university, I realize that we were presented with art history - three semester's worth! - from ancient Mesopotamia to the Contemporary scene devoid of any true women's art, like the works produced by Mary Kelly focusing on motherhood.

While I now spend my days working with mothers, there has never really been an intersection of my education in the arts and my present roles and responsibilities.

I see now this was only due to presentation and omission. Otherwise, I would have approached my work well aware of the many women artists who have expressed the many dimensions of their existence as a female.

It's time to get to work learning what my professors did not teach me.
